Algo' 2014 Day Four - Illegal Moves and Blow Backs

The newbies get the brief

After a non flying day yesterday all were keen to get up in the air so we made an early start up via the fountain for aqua refills. A relaxed drive with a higher level of conversation and we arrived to find the Poles doing what the Poles do best …...... Colin and Carl got set to go and Kaz headed back down ready for a quick turn around.

Carl first off from the side launch glides away

Colin off the top and looking good

Carl was first off from the SW launch and glided off around the corner in super smooth air before heading out over the flat lands. Colin wasted no time and soon followed suit getting better air as he floated off out. Both did good nil wind landings and got the ideal flight to “aclimatise” to the site and work out what and where ready for the next one. Peachy took the opportunity to practice very light wind forward launch and flew down to join the boys landing just as Kaz arrived bundling his kit into the car and heading back up.

Peachy plays catch up ?????

Conditions on top were beginning to warm up and the steady stream of pilotys off the top saw some starting to stay aloft and one by one the guys and gal got themselves ready. With the Vultures circling Michel stepped forward and did a bit of harp playing in amongst the wings before taking off and climbing out. Graham K was up for it and did a fine launch sinking out before finding a nice climb to join those up high.

Michel ready for the bouncy stuff

Martin J decided to get off and picked a good slot flying into a nice climb and circling up with a little encouragement over the airwaves. Simon S laid out for launch as conditions began to get livelier and got in a bit of a tangle and having to go to the pits for and untangling session. Julie slotted in and was soon away in her distinctive pink suit. By now Kaz had returned and Colin and Carl were ready for flight number 2. Both got off quickly and had fun flights with a bit of rock and roll mixed in a fine introduction to the bouncier stuff.

Remote control thermalling, so easy from the ground ;))

Peachy got his kit out then after a little relief picked his moment in between the increasing thermic gusts to make a good launch and climb away. By the time Simon was set to go again things were definitely getting on to the breezy side and after a bit of a wait we gave it a miss and headed down for some refreshments. By the time we got down everyone had landed with varying tales of daring do's and up and downs and forward and backwards ….... We picked them up and met up with Peachy in the bar who had ended up in a nearby garden.

Chilling in the sunshine

A pleasant cooling off drink and bit of a chat and we headed back up to have alook at the west launch. On arrival it looked perfect, too perfect considering the forecast so we waited before commiting. Sure enough 15 minutes later things were not so good and we headed back down.

Ping Pong and dodgey serves

Chill out at home abit of table tennis then it was off out for a night on the town. Interesting evenings were had by all with the early birds getting in just after mid night and the late ones some time after 03.00 but before 04.00. Think we have found a new entertainments officer in Carl. What goes on in Algo stays in Algo.

It was a late night back

Quote of the day “thats illegal”
