Hi Cliff

Well Cliff wasn't actually there but we took a day off and went to High Cliff which is a 750' cliff site in north Cornwall. Pete C Al J and Ady G made up the numbers and we had a super time cruising the coast at a grand above take off which was cloud base. Unfortunately the clouds were on the low side for an XC inland but Coady did make a valiant attempt up the coast towards Hartland point before decking it on the beach at Widmouth Bay. We were joined briefly by an Atos rigid wing which appeared from the North before disappearing to the south then reappearing and heading north again from whence it came, wonder who it was????? A super day for all, we really must do it more often.

Hi Guys,
No, it was me on my VR.Flew up to Hartland Point down to Boscastle then back over Bude. Made it back onto the small cliffs north of Bude, But the wind was almost NW so it was well off and went for the easy retrieve on Bude beach (tide was coming in then and those rocks look awfully sharp!).
I thought it was wise to take off in England and fly to Kernow (don't worry I had my passport in my harness). Great to see you up there Phippsy - I thought you regonised me! Really sorry we didn't make it Perranporth and the comp. I know you called it at the last minute so you wouldn't be beaten again on the ridge race! Hope to make it in two weeks - no more tricks !
Not the ideal direction for this flight. It really needs about 280 to 290 degrees 15 mph. It was too north which reduces the lift on the cliffs between Bude and Widemouth and the part north of Bude. Dead west would make it a problem I think negotiating the Dizzard cliffs and there's no BL there!
Last November I made it all the way north across the bude gap - then the wind was about 285 degrees and it was relatively straightforward. I think under these conditions top flexwings could make this gap bothways - just. There's a challenge!!
See you there again folks. This really is a stunning 34 mile stretch of cliff-totally under valued. Its the longest stretch of cliff anywhere in the UK!Don't tell everyone! Thats Hartland to Port Isaac (that might be pushing it!!). One of my personal best flights.
