Whilst Kaz got Alan C (Perranporth) going on his Taster day the rest got rigged and Tim set the winch out ready to play in the light to mod SSW breeze with some nice if lowish cumulus floating by.
A test of the air by myself on the dear on Mars Hang Glider confirmed it ideal for hangy's and a test on his "old" Buzz Z3 by Phil showed Peter F not only that his "new" wing flew but also that conditions were fine for para's, ideal.
The group from L to R
Peter F, Colin N, Mark L, Bev P, Kaz P, Jenny S, Duncan B, Al C and Phil L
So let play commence Jenny S (Penryn) got going on the Mars and was soon cracking base bar conversion, before moving into prone flying and finally finishing off with slow flight appreciation and a stall (on purpose) to take her a couple of flights away from her CPC. Not only that but her landings came together really nicely so a top day for her.
Mark L (Torquay) was also back on the hangy for day 3 and did a fine job moving onto the Falcon, completing release, and starting higher flights and turns in readiness for his first trip to the top so nearing the end of his EPC. His landings were great, nice and gentle with just the right amount of speed and flare, shame the undercarriage just not always lock down though, must be a duff switch somewhere ;)
The hangies get themselves sorted
Jenny comes in for a cracking landing as the cloud streets pass by
On the Paragliding side Bev P ( Barnsable) had another top day settling into high flight, and the seat, before moving into weight shift and normally used flying speeds. A little more "one on one helped" and we got the ruck sorted so no more hands down the back of your harness Bev!
Duncan B (Devon) and Colin N (Newlyn East) matched each other as they completed their CPC tasks with Big Ears, Assymetrics and spot landings before just enjoying the flying or practising some of them again for the fun of it. Well done to both and especially to Colin on bringing his towing together nicely, in fact it seemed as his got better Duncan's got .......... maybe I should separate them?
Colin floats in after completing his instability tasks
Peter F had a "relaxed" day getting used to his new kit, and despite a little over reaction on his first flight or two he was soon in the groove and looking in tune, hopefully the weather will come good for the hill on our return from Spain so we can get him sorted.
Al C gets set to go as spectators line the terraces
Last but by no means least it was Al C's turn to join in the fun on the line having worked hard with Kaz through the ground based activities. Suitably nervous we got Al set to go and that was it, he was up and away doing a fine job. each flight got a bit better and his final one was a cracker getting a round of applause from the assembled masses. Well done Al, be great to see you back some time.
Last flight of the day gives Phil a chance to fly and Colin a chance to sort out launch marshalling
The final touchdown
There was even some time to sneak in a few fun flights myself on the Falcon to chase a few thermals so life is pretty good really. A super group of guys and gals who all worked well together kept thing moving nicely making the most of the day, nice. Even the sheep are starting to play the game, they kindly moved into the next field when we arrived and started to sneak back just as we were packing up, guess we can train just about anyone!!!
Quote of the day "that was a bit quick"
